2009 and Feeling Fine

Monday, January 5th, 2009

It took a whole year, but 2009 is now officially up and running.  Hopefully, all of the bugs from 2008 have been worked out so this year runs smoother.  There have been so many changes with this calendar update that is is hard not to be excited.  Or maybe I am just pumped up because last year was incredibly trying and troublesome.  Who knows.  All that matters now is that the year is young and full of promise.  In fact, 2009 already has a lot going for it.  For example, Tools, the webcomic that dreams are made of, has officially launched to much fan fair.  That already puts 2009 in the Hall of Fame for Great Years, right behind 1776 (the year our nation was born) and 1912 (the year Casimir Funk identified vitamins).  Now that is good company!  As you can see, I am pretty excited for 2009.  Honestly, it has been a long time since I have been this pumped for a new year.  The important thing to remember is that a year is only as good as you make it, and I am aiming on making 2009 a year to remember.

In order to make this year better than the last, I will have to make some improvements to better me as a person.  I know, this sounds like the typical “Resolution” speech, but I have decided against that route.  Instead of resolving to do a bunch of things that I probably will not accomplish, I have decided to make a more focused assult on self-improvement.  For example, this year, I want to make the best comics I can make.  In order to do that, I will draw more often, take an art class (if financially possible), read more, experiment with different style techniques, further streamline my writing, and keep building on the progress that I have already made.  I will also spend some of my off time creating music, reading, exercising, and relaxing to keep my mind and body refreshed.  Again, I am not resloving to do any of these things.  I AM going to do these things because I didn’t do them last year, and I see where that got me.  Besides, resolution is best left for TVs anyway.

So, another year has come to pass, but this year should be a good one.  I have a plan of attack and I am “Champing at the Bit” (thanks Brad Guigar) to get the year off and running!   I am going to do everything I can to make sure that Tools has a tremdous year as well as myself.  Happy 2009 everybody.  May your year be coated with Awesome Dust!
